About Pink Pen Editors

History

After years of working in the publishing industry as literary agents, we started Pink Pen Editors in 2025 because we noticed that many manuscripts making it to our inboxes weren’t quite ready to be published.

We cannot tell you how many queries we receive each year from writers who clearly have a gift with words but haven’t  fully developed their storytelling skills. They can write beautiful, poetic sentences. But we feel nothing when we  read them. Or we can’t follow the story because the plot makes no sense. Or there is so much dialogue in a scene that it begins to feel like two talking heads going back and forth but we have no sense of how those characters are moving about their world. That’s just not interesting, no matter how well written the sentences. If you want to write books that readers enjoy and connect with—you have to learn how to do it. And often that takes lots of outside help.

So we decided we’d like to be able to help authors at this stage as well, and thus, Pink Pen Editors was born.

Mission

We want our clients to become better writers through working with us. We provide a list of the best resources we’ve found to help writers continue to build their craft. From books, to videos, to seminars and slide decks—educating authors on writing and storytelling is one of the hallmarks of our mission.

While having an editor who can point out your strengths and weaknesses as a writer can be invaluable to the learning process, we also help writers with their specific projects by finding things maybe others haven’t found—like plot holes or scenes that just aren’t working. If we’re doing a full developmental edit, we will not only point out these problem spots, but we’ll offer suggestions on how to fix them.  Every client we take on will receive a written report of our recommendations and a free consultation to discuss those recommendations and ask questions. It is our mission to help your book become the best book it can possibly be.

Values

We believe in the power of words. Stories change hearts and minds; they change the world for the better. Stories give us the chance to understand another person’s experiences even though they may be drastically different than our own.

We value honesty within the subjective nature of our industry. We will provide you the feedback we believe you need even when it might be hard for you to hear. Our goal will always be to help you write the best book you can write, so you can find the widest audience possible, and build a career that can sustain you to the financial level you and your family desire. However, writing is subjective. It’s an art form. So there may be times when we disagree and you, as the writer, have the hard work of deciding what resonates with your heart and mind.

At Pink Pen Editors, we offer a 20% discount to writers from traditionally underrepresented groups. These are the stories that haven’t yet been fully told, fully examined, fully internalized by the majority of Americans. Developing empathy changes how we behave toward one another. If we never understand how the structures and institutions of our society have disadvantaged certain groups, while giving advantages to others, then we’ll never work to change those structures. Books teach us the true lessons of history that we often weren’t taught in school. Stories of BIPOC and LGBTQ+ human beings, their contributions to our world, and their oppression that continues to this day, are not a big enough part of the publishing landscape. We want to help change this.
